Growth Mindset
We recently discussed mindset at a professional development meeting. I came across this parent resource and thought it was definitely worth sharing! These are things that teachers are doing and saying at school. I believe that students will greatly benefit from hearing the same positive dialogue at home.
What is growth mindset? -Believing that intelligence is not fixed
Sarah Gardner has made a useful handout that explains growth mindset very clearly.
She explains how parents can:
1) Talk about it
2) Praise the process
3) Tell your child that the brain can grow
4) Help your child change his/her dialogue
5) Encourage failure (learn to persevere)
